August Page Architects worked in collaboration with Mclaren Engineering Group and Lakhani Jordan Consulting Engineers to provide comprehensive code enforcement and quality control services on behalf of the Dormitory Authority of the State of NY (DASNY) for the $1.5 Billion dollar expansion of the Jacob Javits Center in Manhattan. Built by Turner Construction with Tishman/AECOM as the Construction Manager, the expansion provided new, state-of-the-art exhibit and meeting room spaces that attracted higher-spending, large-scale trade shows and conventions, while enhancing the quality of life for the West Side community. In addition, the construction of an on-site truck marshaling, loading, and storage facility relocated 20,000 event-related trucks off area streets each year, improving neighborhood traffic flow and pedestrian safety. As a result, the move-in and move-out process for events was reduced by 30%, creating capacity for an additional 20 event days annually and generating increased economic activity.
